Question:
Are Large Goiters in dog signs of manic depression?I've been looking all over the web for info on this. If anyone knows, would they please please let me know?
Answer:
Not that I know of, but I DO know that thyroid problems, if untreated, can cause the symptoms of mood disorders..... Did that make sense? It’s a cart and horse kind of thing... Actually, my computer doctor program (it came with the Mac) says Prozac can cause those glands to swell. I dunno. I have one, though, but it's new. I
have to get it pierced (uck) and have been postponing the visit to the
doctor because I'm terrified of having a needle stuck in my neck! That's what we're here for. Sorry about the snip, but the mice and all,
well that's really off topic here. Why don't you tell us how you feel?
You know, a lot of folks would write that last post off as a mere troll,
but this once, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, because I
sense a lot of rage here, and I know how much rage hurts. If you want us
to help you, the best way to start is by telling us what it is that
you're *really* angry about. Mice didn't bring on all that rage. Neither
did termites. I know you have had a lot of angry posts directed at you
from ASD'ers, but let's be fair. A lot of it was justified. After all
you have stepped on some toes around here. Anyhow, I don't think all
that rage could possibly be directed at a group of peole whom you only
know as some electrons glowing on your monitor screen. So, if you really
want us to help, and I know a lot of us do want to help, why don't you
tell us about what you're *really* feeling. What got you so down that
you figured you needed this group? We can't help if we don't know why
you're here. I've opened up about some of my stuff. It wasn't easy, but
I felt better after I did. Trust me. Tell us about it. We'll listen, and
I really think you'll feel better for it. Well, I don't know. It's just like this whole year has just been
in the toilet. Everybody just argues all the time about everything
and I'm getting sick of it. It's like it's here and it's on TV (which
is why I hardly watch it) and then Lady Diana dying and the bombing trial and
then other people dying and people lying out
their ass all the time is making me pretty sick because I'm basically
a trusting person but I mean it's really getting harder to be that way!
And then this whole Bill Clinton/Paula Jones thing and then
the thing with Fred Thompson and Howard Ickes and everybody
just seems like they've lost it. And every time you turn around
there's something new you have to learn on the computer or
somewhere else. I don't want to learn about termites. If I did
I would have been a bug guy, which I probably should have been.
But if one more person says to me, there are two types of houses,
those that have termites and those that will I really feel like I'm going to
rip someone's head off. It's like everything's backwards
all the time. I'm supposed to lighten up about everything but
everybody else isn't. I mean I try but I'm not the only person
in the whole world over here! It's like I have S U C K E R
written across my forehead and it's like this neon light flashing
whenever I go anywhere and I'm getting pretty sick of it. I'm also
getting a little sick of there being too much of everything everywhere. Ever
looked down the cereal aisle? Since when
do we need all these different brands? I mean you just walk up
and down looking and god it's like major decision time on
every aisle anymore. And there are always a million little tags
displaying the sale items (usually hung in the wrong place) and
you have to wade thru those. And why is gas going up?
And don't people say thank you anymore or what? And every time
you turn around there's a new rule and who can keep up? and to put YOU on notice, it is a well-known fact that thyroid
problems can precipitate mood disorders.......you are getting bona
fide medical advice here, not cheap shots at people with goiters... I'd love to, but the dog keeps sniffing them out.
Man, your name shows up on the screen, the dog comes flying into the
room, and I can't tell if she's sniffing a troll, sniffing for a place to
dump, or sniffing out her next meal.
Of course, I *did* get the dog from Anti-Cruelty, so maybe she is
sniffing out cruelty.
