Books on schizophrenia?

Question:
My family is suffering with this disease. I would appreciate if someone could recommend a good book related with this disease. I live in Japan and there are few books. Has anyone read these books? Kopla LC. KImberley PG: Extrapyrimmidal signs and clinical symptons in first-episode schizophrenia: response to low-dose risperidone.1997 keks Na. mimimising the non-extrapyrimmidal side-effects of antipsychotics:1994

Answer:
Try The Day the Voices Stopped by Ken Steele. Also have alook at http://www.schizophrenia.com - they have some recommended books for you to check out.. I have read several chapters of the following books. 1.modern clinical psychiatry - 9th edition - Kolb
2.modern synopsis of conmprehensive textbook of psychiatry - 3rd edition - Kaplan & Sadock old books! Schizophrenia.com might have some learning resources for you. Probably a suggested reading list. I personally like Peter Breggins' books, but maybe that's because I am in denial. Intuitively, even before ever having touched one of Peter Breggins' books, I always felt psychiatry was quackery. Maybe, since you are actually exposed upfront, you could write, your own book. It can be an honest, detailed acount of your experiences with schizophrenia. Most books all talk about the same boring stuff anyway. I used to have a book written by a schizophrenic. It was called "How To Become A Schizophrenic", but I don't remember the name of the author. I enjoyed it, and found it to be insightful reading. If the keepers of the FAQ were present, this questioning poster should see the faq we have. Unfortunately due to troll harrasement and flames they are away on vacation at present. Our FAQ is good reading for someone with questions about sz. Whenever I use the term "normal"(as a noun) in a disparaging way I prefer the term "Flatbrainer" instead. I am so pleased with it because it refutes their supremacy. And it works!!!! Flatbrainer is a clear label for "normals" and it carries a sense of equality. Its like, a fair punch, ya know, right back at em? STUART!!!? A freaken FLATBRAINER! HERE! Among us? No..... Stuart is Stuart. He's no flatbrainer.....maybe a little. How many times have you seen flatbrainers recognize the "T.V messages"(for example) or see a syncrostantial event and they IMMEDIATELY go into denial about it? Or watched their immediate denial of something clearly representing the "psychic"? I've seen it ALOT. Which goes to prove, or support, my working hypothesis, which is: we have more of what they have. And that is why we are in our sorry stete of affairs as the sz folk. Stuart is a flatbrainer? astounding. Be gentle with the judgement. He may yet recognize the psychosis that brain pills represent by deffinition. Its all a choice between various psychosises. There are political correctness trolls too, you know. My main offense against thiswebsites is in flooding it with too many posts. But it's not my fault that I have something to say, and some people don't. There should be room for occasional "small talk". It makes the environment more friendly. You did? I have that book here at home. I like his books a lot too because they really are very respectful of so-called mentally ill people. I also like R.D. Laing, he makes it so clear that mental illness is really the sanest response to a crazy world.
