Question:
New anti-depressant medication awaited: Lexapro?
Answer:
Starting next week, psychiatrists will be able to
prescribe an eagerly awaited new anti-depressant called Lexapro. It's being
promoted as more potent and possibly safer than older competitors - but
there's little evidence that it's much better." http://www.msnbc.com/news/799558.asp
Oh boy oh goodie!! Oh wow! I want to be the first to try this new drug. I want to
product test this for the manufacture. I want to be the first to discover the "treatment
emergent events"
Sue what is your problem, after all this is a depression medication
internet, out of curiosity, do you go to a cancer or aids groups and tell
them their medicine is killing them and make fun of new advances in
medicine. We all know you a Breggin Cultist, But I cant talk about everyone
here, But the meds I take have saved my life, No dought about it Id be dead
a long time ago. I cant imagine having enough spare time to troll these
groups, just tell about some old quacks insane theory of advances in modern
medicine, so what would Breggin do Slash my arms to let out "evil" blood or
put leeches on me Or how about a lobotomy, yea that way beats takin a few
pills.
Maybe someday youll have the insite to run not walk away from that cult and
master manipulator and free will theive Breggin. That's right I want to have Breggins baby and scratch a cross on my forehead.
Yeah I mentioned this Lexapro stuff to my doctor last session so he gave
me some Celexa to perhaps try out since Lexapro is not out yet. I like the
idea of the Lexapro having the "Good" half if the molecule instead of the
good/bad combo with Celexa. Aparently the trials went well and the Lexapro
was supposedly more effective and had less side effects as Celexa. Well
we'll see once more people take it and let us know what the real story is. I
am still wary about "new" meds but in this case I may let that box of Celexa
collect some dust and hold out for Lexapro before trying it. Then again I
may say to hell with both sides of the molecule and stick with Remeron. Hmmm
thinking about this makes me want more Valium! ahhh there 2mg melting in my
mouth darn I like Valium so much.
According to my P-Doc even back with Prozac they had identified a
favorable and unfavorable part of the molecule but for some reason never
came out with a product featuring just the favorable part of Prozac, They
had hyped up about it but then nothing. Well who knows. Hopefully Lexapro
will turn out to be great and help people. I certainly hope so although I am
a big skeptic when it comes to medications. I have HATED every med I've
tried so far besides Remeron and all benzo's except Klonopin I'm taking Celexa now. If Lexapro can give me the same benefits with weaker
side effects, and at 1/4 the dose (5 mg/day Lexapro vs. 20 mg/day Celexa),
I'm going to choose Lexapro! Most people would, but the more likely result is it will be a celexa
clone for all practical purposes and their reps will seek to switch
EVERYONE to lexapro from Celexa before the patton for Celexa runs out. The hoped for lack of side effects simply were NOT there. And I dont
believe they went head to head with celexa.
