here was a short article in the Globe and Mail today (Canada's national newspaper).
The blurp was an excerpt from an article in the London Observer (from when I'm not sure), but said that marijuana use leads to a fourfold chance of schizophrenia and a fourfold chance of depression related illness for the user. I think it might have been in relation to a request for funding for schizophrenia related programs (which already accounts for 3% of Britain's national health bill?). Couldn't be sure since the article was so brief.
Anyone know anything about this. I'd heard of the schizophrenia thing before, but I had figured the whole thing was actually quite rare, and usually only affecting those who had a family history of mental illness anyway. I mean ultimately a four-times-greater-chance could amount to a negligible number if overall infliction rates are increadibly low?
As for the depression thing, I hadn't heard that one before. Both my mother and her brother have been on anti-depressants to combat depression problems, so now it has me a little worried.

I think the problem here is dose and purity. If wannabees would stick to smoking the leaves from the herb then paranoia wouldn't occur. Low doses are better for a start and can give a great high and comprable to alchohol. Although I dont' mean leaves arn't a great source of thc, certainly more mesured than buds thats all. Imagine youre a new user and youre smoking a joint for the first time, then you encounter a large lump of White Widow in your joint, You inhale, and hold for a moment. Enough said. I think...........
If you wanna get into battered wives syndrome, then that's always a tricky one in this society. Personally if youre gonna get into weed by getting hammered at parties then this aint gonna do you no good. For all you know you could be taking in 100th of a g of smack. But i''ll add this, if youve got any repressed thoughts, better out than in. Otherwise see a hypno.
