| Depression Anxiety Symptoms |
Question: I have been suffering from extreme anxiety for the past four weeks, (about something specific) and I have the following symptoms.
Muscle and joint ache and pain, of varying intensity. My arms and hands
are particularly aching and are shaky and weak feeling. My legs are like
jelly and shaky.
I want to sleep alot and don't want to get up to face the world and the
day of aching and pain.
Is this common with anxiety? I have been to the doctor and he has said I
have depression and anxiety, he has re-assured me about my underlying
fears but it makes no difference.
Can anybody help?
Answer: All of the symptoms you have described can go with anxiety.
Once the doctor has ruled out an illness the next step would be to decide
how to deal with your anxiety. Some people choose therapy and/or medication.
Some medications are taken as needed while others are taken regularly. The
FAQs list much useful information about anxiety and treatment.
I'm not trying to be nosy but you say your anxiety is about something
specific. Can you solve that problem? Is it something that will resolve with
time? Would this specific problem make anyone feel anxious? Did you tell
your doctor about this problem and if was medical did he do appropriate
tests?( Please don't feel that you need to answer these questions.)
The reason I ask is that you mention no history of anxiety. There are times
and events in all people's lives that cause them to feel anxious. Having
four relentless weeks of anxiety is a bit much, I agree. Do you feel like
this all the time or do you have moments when you feel okay? Have you ever
had a panic attack? I'm wondering if your anxiety is about one specific
thing or is it creeping into every part of your life.
