Question:
Now, I feel as if I have pms for 3 weeks, a period for 5 days, about 3
good days before pms hits again. How in god's name do you know if
you're suffering from depression, anxiety, pms, or perimenopause?
The symptoms for all of the above share symptoms of heart attacks!!!
Answer:
It sounds pretty normal to me - normal for peri, that is. Basically, you
just eliminate other possibilities (heart disease, thyroid problems,
diabetes) and if nothing else rings in as a cause, you chalk everything
up to peri/midlife, and try to cope. The good news is that it doesn't last forever. About the time you find
ways to cope with whatever symptom is worst, it will go away and another
will come to replace it.
The design for model 'Homo Sapiens' is rather flawed, but it works fairly
well overall, don't you think?
I am 46 and I am along with many others I know at this age up to your
age going through very severe PMS symptoms that last longer and longer
until that wonderful time when the hormonal storms stop. Everyone
who's gotten to this stage tells me it is really something to look
forward to. I've heard friends say "I never really felt like a woman
till my periods stopped and I was on an even keel for the first time in
my life...she said she never felt sexier and more alive!: I like to
hear more of this ! Knowing this is temporary and that this
hormonal, weight, spritual and emotional rollar coaster will end in my
early 50s keeps me going.
There's no guarantee it ends in the early 50s. That's an average age. Some
are done much earlier, others much later. Well, at 52 it's very likely to be perimenopause. ;-) And the others -
well, not the heart attack bit! - can occur as a part of peri, so... There were a couple of years when I had slight crampiness (a form of PMS for
me) all month long in peri. I also became more & more irritable, which was
weird for me; had always been on a pretty even keel & not particularly
flappable before that. Sometimes one can feel like it's getting to be too much. Can be a royal
PITA, IME/O. At least the symptoms tend to wax & wane - even if the waxing
is months at a time, & eventually they (at least for the most part) go away. Period is 16 days late today and 11
years ago today I was into my 6th hour of a 20 hour labor which
resulted in a c-section. My daughter will be 11 at 8:10 PM and is
perimenstrualpausal (I just made up the word As she is entering
the world of periods, I'm figuring out how to exit it! Geeee, no
tension in our household!!!! Is my husband in for a ride LOL! Happy birthday to your kid, best of luck to you, and condolences to your
husband. The "kid" acted like a spoiled brat this am as I planned a loving
birthday morning. I ended up yelling at her as I drove her to music
lessons and we left on not so good terms :-( It's stuff like this that
I wonder if it's my hormones, is it her hormones or is it one of 8
million other things? As far as condolences to my husband: I believe in Karma
In real life, unlike in Shakespeare, the sweetness of the rose depends
upon the name it bears. Things are not only what they are. They are, in
very important respects, what they seem to be.
