Question:
I really need some info (and some support) on ADD and bipolar mood disorder.
Driven to Distraction _did not_ help. The book makes a brief note about
the combination, but the authors don't even seem to treat it too seriously.
I mean, really...they seem to describe a typical person with ADD/bipolar
as someone who babbles while changing the subject randomly every 5
seconds and not necessarily on related topics. I feel sad,
lonely, and frustrated. Isn't there an ADDer out there who's bipolar too?
It would be comforting to hear something to the affirmative. I can't
remember if my psychiatrist and I decided if the bipolar was type 2 or 3,
but my manic episodes aren't quite as high as my depressive ones. With ADD,
depression feels like a black cloud-- fuzzy as well as dark.
Answer:
At first they thought I was ADD with Bi-polar but Lithium made me
worse.
When I found the right DR he said I had a mood disorder and gave me
anti-convulsants. That made the difference.
What meds are you taking? What have you tried?
