I wonder if I should stick with the Flonase and anti-biotics for longer before thinking about increasing the anti-depressants for anxiety again?

Question:
I wonder if I should stick with the Flonase and anti-biotics for longer before thinking about increasing the anti-depressants again? I understand that Flonase In particular, can take up to a month to start working, and that the anti-biotic (Biaxin) should take about three weeks to work effectively in chronic sinusitis. See, infection, fever, and aching muscles are also affecting me, and that’s why my doctor thinks if we can work on this sinusitis, I won't feel so crappy. So, if anybody has any similar experience, I would appreciate input? I have seen many people mention a co-relation between sinus problems and depression/anxiety. I know there is currently a lot of investigational study into the immune system and mental diseases.

Answer:
My chronic sinus problems (which are now remedied) started the year after I had a minor car accident where I took a blow to the cheek. I think sinus, stress and depression problems are definitely related. I had to work in a job that just aggravated any sinus problems. I taught music in school. I could not take teaching elementary because I was always getting sick, not to mention the stress levels of keeping unruly children in order so they could be taught SOMETHING. The behavior of the students wasn't much better overall at the high school level. Teaching was HELL. My voice was always shot and the noise levels in the room from talking , etc... intolerable. Plus I taught in a moldy basement. I do not have any allergies, but the mold still bothered me. Many other teachers could not STAND to be in the room because of their allergies. I had sinus surgery and it helped but it didn't help the stress. I would still get some mild infections, although after the surgery the antibiotics actually DID help. I find that sinus problems for me are stress related as are some people's problems with ulcers..... I now teach college and while I am not totally free from ever getting a sinus infection (I live in the Midwest, nuff said), I can teach with one because I do not have to keep control of the uncontrollable (kids). Just thinking of not having to worry that all HELL will break lose at any moment and really being able to TEACH and not police is heaven on earth compared to my old situation. I would like to say I am not a PUSHOVER. Teaching kids nowadays takes the life's blood out of you. They just do not know what behaving means! I am so glad to be out of teaching K-12 and my outlook on life has improved considerably as has my overall physical health. I am curious as to why he chose now to cut back on your anti-depressants. You are not feeling well physically, IMO...........its not the best time to cut back on Ad`s. IMO......the flonase and biaxin should have nothing to do with you increasing you AD. If your doctor told you that you have a bacterial infection in your sinuses, you will need to stay on the biaxin for three weeks, or whatever he prescribed. The flonase can start working in as little as 12 hours, and full effectiveness within days, thats provided you use it everyday. IMO.......it would be best to get you better "physically", then work on decreasing your AD? How much codeine are you taking? During the worst of my setback last winter, I also battled sinus infections and a double inner ear infections. I was on more anti-biotics than I care to remember and was also on a nasal spray called nasonex. I never saw a decrease in my anxiety symptoms, the main one being dizziness( which ear infections can cause ). I would feel fine physically for a week or two then the infection would always come back. It wasn`t until I went on paxil, that all my symptoms went away, the dizzies, off-balanced feelings and etc.........further proof anxiety was causing most of my symptoms. Istill have alot of trouble with my ears, but I have no dizziness, or off-balanced feelings. I also refuse to take any more anti-biotics for it........they don`t work, but even though I feel lousy with my ears and sinuses, I have had no increase with anxiety what so ever. You have to treat that infection first, and then maybe you will get an idea, of what is causing what.
